Love beyond the calendar

I just graduated from the calendar three months ago. My fellow Filipinos would know what I mean with my introductory sentence.  But to to those who don't, it means my age is already beyond the last date in the monthly calendar. "Lampas na sa kalendaryo" is a common idiom among Filipinos to describe women whose age is 32, because the in months the calendar have 31 days max.

But this idiom is given more emphasis for women who are still single at that age - which includes yours truly. So for us single women who are beyond the calendar, this phase is somewhat a dreaded one. Something that many of us did not plan to happen, but just did. Of course we seldom hear women saying I hope I am still not married at age 32. Unless one is already 31 and finds herself single (whether she has been in a relationship before or has never had) and feels she is still not ready to settle down after all, although when she was 25, she wanted to be happily married at age 30.

So now here I am writing this personal blog for myself because I am beginning to think that being in this period of my life will be quite a fun and exciting phase for me - what with all the constant battle of me realizing I still want to do so many things as a single person and also wanting to get married on or before I turn 35 (the new marrying age goal of women beyond the calendar). But one sure thing I want to do now at my age is to love, love as much as I could because I know love exists even beyond the calendar. There is love for one's family, one's friends, one's passions, and of course, one's sweetheart. Yes, I am hopeful to find that romantic partner in life and yes, I will record all my love experiences here too.

Let me also dedicate this blog to all women-younger or older than I am. Because I am sure that no matter the age of a woman, there is something that we women all share, we all are loving creatures although we express them in many different ways and experience giving or receiving love in all it's facets in different time periods of our lives. Because life sometimes, in fact most often, can't be planned. It unfolds in so many unexpected ways and throws in an array of people and experiences (mundane and super crazy ones) we never knew would occur in our lives. Just look at what happened to me, right? The best thing we could do is to just keep in mind that our goal is to be happy and to remember that age is but a number. What matters is that we make each day count with love, no matter what day it is in the calendar. And the best thing that others could do to women like us is see us as that, as women, not as old maids, not as cougars, but simply as mighty, respectable, and loving beautiful women.
